she was so much more than a pretty face i mean there were so many others that if you think about it were prettier but she stayed and to this day is the symbol of american beauty and even if you don't know it you know her. I'll start talking about her with friends and they'll be like who and ill describe her and they'll be like oh that's her name. we love you Marilyn

I really think it's her tragic backstory that keeps her so popular. Even if mainstream culture doesn't outright say it, that's essentially what the appeal is. She's this symbol of American beauty but she died young and was never very happy or treated very well. That was always what I saw as a kid. We thrive off of tragedy. It's kind of weird. If it were ever possible, I'd love to do a study on all of this, because it fascinates me. So many of our huge American icons are people who barely got to live.

Sorry, that kind of went off on a side tangent from what you wrote, haha. Anyway, thanks for commenting.

i really think this is true. she has a kind of dark side to that overpowering charisma its like a story and everybody wants too read it
